Born September 5, 1967 in Burbank, California, Gabriel Rivera is an abstract painter now living and working in Orange County, California. His mixed media paintings are expressive and industrial, created on large-scale raw cotton canvases and occasionally on paper.

Rivera's abstract paintings represent the unconventional beauty found in the urban landscape. Having spent a significant part of his life living in Los Angeles, Rivera's work is inspired by the layered markings of the city's graffiti artists. Built up expressions over time often in the same place, sometimes meaning nothing... sometimes, meaning everything.
