Basil Stripling grew up in the heart of Los Angeles. At an early age, he became aware that his passion was to be an artist, and spent many hours drawing as his recreation.

After receiving a degree in Fashion at the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in the mid 1980's, Basil Stripling began work in the design industry and eventually teamed up with famed costume designer Bill Whitten.
During the 1990's, Basil Stripling began honing his skills in construction, set design, building props & creating functional art as he traveled around the world with his fashion career.
He visited every museum, gallery and artist studio possible, and spent instrumental time learning the techniques and approaches to fine art by studying and meeting with different artists on his travels.

From these experiences, Basil Stripling began to realize his passion for creating art in different mediums such as ceramic, wood, steel and bronze.

Basil Stripling eventually made the transition in focusing his full time efforts on making fine art sculptures in the early 2000's. Ranging in size and scope, his pieces are inspired by real life experiences.
After moving to Laguna Beach CA. in 2000, Basil Stripling more and more realized his connection to sculpting in bronze, was the truest form of art that flowed from his heart, head and soul.

His sculptures have also grown larger in size, leading him to many awarded Public Art pieces throughout Southern California.

Gerard Basil Stripling currently resides and works in his studio in Laguna Beach, California.
